In-Person Voting: ID requirements
Virginia’s new ID requirements went into effect on July 1st, 2020. In the General Election, if you choose to vote without presenting an ID card, you will be required to sign an “Affirmation of Identity form” which states that you are who you claim to be and reside at the address you provide, under the felony penalty of law.
To ensure your voting experience remains as prompt and efficient as possible, we recommend all voters bring their state-issued ID with them to present when checking in to vote on Election Day (i.e. driver’s license).
